About
Tessera Materials was founded to bridge the gap between advanced carbon materials science and the large-scale energy storage applications that need it.
The Company
The global energy storage industry is scaling faster than its materials supply chain. Lithium-ion batteries are approaching fundamental limits. Sodium-ion, potassium-ion, and lithium-ion capacitor architectures offer alternatives — but only if the electrode materials can match their requirements.
Tessera Materials was founded to solve the materials problem. Hollow Carbon Nano-Onions, produced to atomic-level specification by Tessera's proprietary precision synthesis process, are the platform material that multiple next-generation energy storage architectures have needed.
Tessera leads and defines the Precision Carbons category: carbon materials produced to formal structural specification, distinguished from grade-defined engineered carbons by the level of structural control. This is not an incremental improvement on existing carbon materials. It is a new product category.
Founder
Founder & CEO
Dale Goynes is the Founder of Tessera Materials, where he leads the development of proprietary synthesis technologies for Hollow Carbon Nano-Onions (HCNOs). With a career rooted in the commercialization of complex process technologies, Dale is dedicated to bridging the gap between advanced materials science and large-scale energy storage applications, including next-generation battery electrodes and supercapacitors.
Prior to founding Tessera Materials, Dale served as Chief Operating Officer for Infra Technology, where he oversaw the operational scaling of specialized energy solutions. He also served as a Senior Technology Advisor to GTC Technology (now Sulzer), guiding the development of next-generation process innovations and industrial applications.
Dale holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, combining a deep technical foundation with a proven track record of operational excellence and strategic leadership within the energy sector.
